
From a humble production of 5,000 units of Smart Card Electronic Meter in 2002, MIM has now grown into one of the biggest meter manufacturer in Malaysia with a production capacity of 42,000 per month.
The founder of the company, En Mohd Razif b Mohd Sharif and TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. jointly begin the development and manufacturing of Single Phase Electronic kWh meter in 1999. This leads to the incorporation of Malaysian Intelligence Meters Sdn. Bhd. (MIM) in January 2000 with its plant at No 15 Jalan pengacara U1/48, Temasya Industrial Park, Glenmarie Shah Alam.
In February 2004, MIM was appointed as the Single Phase Electronic kWh Meter vendor to TNB under the TNB Entrepreneur Development Program. Today MIM still stands as the only local brand meter manufacturer with its own R&D. In views of its fast increasing demand and expanding product line, MIM moved from its 9,000 square feet factory to its present 50,000 square feet factory at No 3, Jalan Pemberita U1/49, Temasya Industrial Park, Glenmarie, Shah Alam in May 2008. In 2009 MIM moved a step further with the development and production of Three Phase Whole Current Electronic Energy Meter.
TNB Roles and Contribution
MIM is hugely indebted to all the assistance, help and guidance from TNB towards making us as one of the most recognizable Meter Manufacturing Company in this region. Since the beginning, MIM has received invaluable amount of experience in the metering industry by working hand in hand with TNB, where we look upon as our Strategic Partner instead of just another supplier-customer relationship. TNB has always embraced us with warm open arms and always receptive to all of our concerns.
TNB has from time to time expose MIM to ways on improving our management process, manufacturing efficiency and also help us in terms of critical input and feedback for our product developments. TNB has also assisted MIM by giving us the opportunity to explore foreign market opportunities by coordinating numerous trade missions and exhibitions in which MIM has benefited tremendously in boosting our presence abroad.
TNB’s policy on stressing the importance of product quality and excellence not just on products but for the whole organization process, has made MIM to become more competitive, dynamic and also help us to be more aggressive to learn all new management process that can make a good company become a great organization.
